
Paul founded Marathon Financial Services to help clients reach for their long-term goals. As he became more involved with running, it became obvious to him how similar his profession was with his passion as both take preparation, training and perseverance. With his background in financial planning, community service and coaching, Paul has a wealth of experience that enables him to assist individuals and small business owners.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. degree in math, Paul worked in campus ministry where he acquired the skills of listening and advising. He then was a founder and Executive Director of Cornerstone Community School where he excelled in leading and planning. Paul brought these skills and experiences into the financial planning arena. Paul has held the CFP® designation since 2009.
Paul has been married to Mary for a third of a century and they have two grown children. Jack and his wife Kelly live in Philadelphia working in educational organizations. Molly works in a public school in Johnson City, TN.
Community service is a vital part of Paul’s life. He is an active member of Upper Room Ministries church. He has served on the boards of the Coalition for Christian Outreach, Kent Chamber of Commerce, and the Kent Rotary Foundation. Paul recently joined the Diversity Council of Cetera Financial Group.
Through his forties and fifties Paul got very involved in running. He competed in races from 800m to the marathon. His best 800m race at age 47 qualified him as an All American. At the Columbus Marathon in 2009, he qualified to run the Boston Marathon in 2010. These days Paul stays in shape through cycling and working out at the gym.
