There are many strides taken during a marathon. As our name suggests, life is more a marathon than a sprint and requires significant preparation for success. Marathon Financial Services was founded to help people plan for their future and reach for their goals. Our offices are located in historic downtown Kent, Ohio.
J. Paul Organ, CFP® | Registered Representative
Paul founded Marathon Financial Services to help clients reach for their long term goals. As he became more involved with running, it became obvious to him how similar his profession was with his passion as both take preparation, training and perseverance. With his background in financial planning, community service and coaching, Paul has a wealth of experience that enables him to assist individuals and small business owners.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. degree in math, Paul worked in campus ministry where he acquired the skills of listening and advising. He then was a founder and Executive Director of Cornerstone Community School where he excelled in leading and planning. Paul brought these skills and experiences into the financial planning arena. Since then he furthered his education by acquiring the CFP® designation.
Paul assisted as a running coach for Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio and competes himself in races from 800m to the marathon. At an 800m race in July 2007, his time of 2:11.0 qualified him as an All American in the age 45-49 category. He qualified to run in the Boston Marathon in his first attempt at that distance.
He stays active in the community through Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, Stow Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce, Summit Athletic Running Club and Stow Rotary.
Mary Organ | Manager of Client Services
Mary received her B.A. from Allegheny College and an M.F.A. from Kent State University. She comes to us from McKay Bricker Art gallery where she blended her talents of art and customer service. It is Mary's critical eye and attention to detail which make her an asset here at Marathon Financial Services.
In her spare time, Mary loves to garden, exercise and spend time with her friends. She recently help to build a bookcase for a charity auction! Paul and Mary have been married since 1989 and have two children.
Kim's Polatas | Director of Marketing
Kim received her B.A. and M.B.A from the University of Akron. She joined Paul at Marathon Financial Services because she believes in the way Paul does business. Kim strongly believes in knowing who she works with – both clients and co-workers. Building a relationship with clients is a great source of joy for her as she is in contact with them every 90 days.
Kim lives in Kent with her husband Tom, three girls, a dog and a cat. She is very active in her church through leading a woman's Bible study, working with junior high students and leading missions' trips to the Dominican Republic each January.
